It seems like yesterday, though it was long ago. The origins of a city on the River Seine. Gallic tribes and Caesar’s armies. Beginnings of kingdoms. A hundred year war. Black Death left us bare. Enlightenment. Revolution! A man named Napolean. Decades passed and tanks rolled through. Occupation. Liberation! Art and culture. A great union. Crises and terror. Strange times indeed. I remember it well as I watch over the city. It seems like yesterday, though it was long ago. Who am I? They call me Montmartre.
Author’s note: Montmartre is a hill in Paris that offers great views of the city. Sacré Coeur Basilica is located on this hill. Pictures taken with my Huawei Honor 7 mobile.
